# GoVideo

> Video hosting for people who just want a link. Upload a file or go live; GoVideo encodes it into an
> adaptive stream and hands back a watch link and an embed that play on any phone, laptop or TV. No
> encoding settings to choose, nothing for viewers to install. An MCP server exposes the whole
> upload/encode/publish loop, so an AI agent can publish a video without a browser.

landing page is right. Prices are not listed here because there is no published rate card yet.

## What it does

- **Upload a video, get a link.** PUT the file, and GoVideo produces an adaptive HLS and DASH ladder.
  You get a public watch page and an `<iframe>` embed for the same video.
- **Live streaming.** Send RTMP to an ingest point and viewers watch it as it happens. Same link
  and embed model as an uploaded video.
- **Player styling without re-encoding.** Play button and progress-bar colours, a watermark image, and
  the thumbnail (poster) are player settings, not encoder settings, so changing one takes effect at once
  and never re-processes the video.
- **Viewer numbers.** Total views and plays, unique viewers, hours watched, average watch time for
  uploads, peak concurrent viewers for live, plus top countries and devices. There is no quality or
  error metric.
- **Free trial.** Ten free minutes a day for a month, no card.

## For AI agents (MCP)

GoVideo speaks the Model Context Protocol at `POST https://api.govideo.stream/mcp`, authenticated with
the bearer token from your account. Anything an agent publishes lands in the same library as anything you
upload yourself, styled with the same player settings.

Nine tools, and the prefix says which kind of stream each one is for. `vod_` is a video FILE you upload
and we encode once; `live_` is a real-time RTMP broadcast someone pushes to. The two never mix, and their
ids are not interchangeable.

- `vod_create_upload(displayName)` — starts a video and returns an `id` plus an `uploadUrl`. PUT the file
  bytes there yourself. **The URL is valid for about 2 minutes, so upload immediately**, and if you use
  curl pass `-f` (`curl -fT file.mp4 '<uploadUrl>'`) or it exits 0 on a rejected upload.
- `vod_request_encode(id, preset?)` — starts encoding once the bytes are up. `preset` is one of `BALANCED`
  (default), `FAST`, `QUALITY`, `EFFICIENT`. Runs in the background, typically a few minutes.
- `vod_get_stream(id)` — status, and once ready the `watchUrl` (the link to give a person), the
  `embedUrl`, and the raw HLS/DASH manifest URLs. Poll this until `ready` is true; the URLs are withheld
  before then, because the watch page for an unfinished encode renders an empty player.
- `vod_list_streams()` — the caller's videos, newest activity first, with ids and statuses.
- `live_start_stream(title)` — creates a broadcast and boots its encoder in one call, and returns the
  `watchUrl` to give the audience straight away (it shows a loading screen until the broadcast begins).
- `live_get_ingest_target(id)` — whether the encoder accepts a push yet, and once it does, the `pushUrl`
  and ready-to-run ffmpeg commands: a test pattern that needs no media, a local file, or a webcam per
  platform. The encoder takes 20-90 seconds after start, so poll this until `ready` is true.
- `live_get_stream(id)` — whether the encoder is up (`ingestReady`) and whether anyone is broadcasting
  right now (`live`), plus the watch link.
- `live_list_streams()` — the caller's broadcasts, newest first.
- `live_stop(id)` — ends a broadcast. Final: a broadcast cannot be resumed, and a live encoder bills
  while it runs.

Bytes never travel through a tool call: the agent PUTs the file straight to storage, so file size is not
limited by the protocol. A live broadcast is pushed over RTMPS by ffmpeg or OBS, not through the
protocol either.

## What it is not

Not an enterprise platform: no SSO, no organisation hierarchies, no per-seat administration. No DRM and
no multi-tenancy. It is a standalone product, not a Bitmovin service, though Bitmovin's encoders are the
engine underneath.
